Washington, DC, the U.S. capital, is a compact city on the Potomac River, bordering the states of Maryland and Virginia. The Washington DC VA Medical Center, located within sight of the Nation's Capitol, is the only health care system that specifically provides care to Veterans. Offering tertiary care in a Complexity Level IA hospital, allows ours staff to provide comprehensive primary and specialty care in medicine, surgery, neurology and psychiatry. The medical center has 175 acute care beds, 30 Psychosocial Residential Rehabilitation Treatment beds, and a 20-suite Fisher House. Also, the medical center is home to an adjacent 120-bed Community Living Center which provides Veterans with geriatric long-term care, hospice and palliative care.

Overview (Duties Include But Are Not Limited)

Under the general direction of the Radiology Director the radiologic technologist practices technology founded upon theoretical knowledge and concepts using equipment and accessories and employs procedures and techniques appropriately. The technologist acts as an agent through observation and communication to obtain pertinent information for the physician to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient and recognizes that interpretation and diagnosis are outside the Scope of Practice for the profession. Utilizes expertise in minimizing radiation exposure to the patient, self and other members of the health care team.

Requirements

• AART M Radiography Registry Required
• Completion of educational program in Radiologic Technology: 2 yr certificate, associate degree and/or baccalaureate degree.
• Shall be comfortable performing 2D/3D Mammography and complex procedures to include stereotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsies as well as scheduling and reporting on MRS (Mammography Reporting System).
• Must have experience in Client Hologic Selenia Dimensions. Siemens Ultrasound experience is a plus. Experience with
• McKesson PACS highly desired.
