Counsel - Investment Management Firm

I’m partnering with a highly regarded global alternative investment firm looking to add an attorney to its New York legal team. The firm is an established, sophisticated investment platform with a significant global presence and a long track record across the hedge fund and alternative investment markets. Today, it operates as a private investment partnership, investing substantial proprietary capital on behalf of its partners and employees rather than managing traditional third-party investor funds. This is an excellent opportunity to join a lean, high-calibre legal team and work closely with senior investment professionals and business stakeholders across a complex, trading-focused The role will include: Advising the business on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters relating to investment and trading activities Supporting sophisticated trading, financing and transactional matters across multiple asset classes Drafting, reviewing and negotiating trading and commercial documentation Working closely with investment professionals, Trading, Operations, Compliance, Risk and other internal stakeholders Advising on new products, counterparties, structures and strategic initiatives Managing relationships with external counsel where required Providing practical, commercially focused advice in a fast-paced investment environment The ideal candidate will have: Strong training from a leading law firm and/or relevant in-house financial services experience Experience advising hedge funds, investment managers, banks, trading firms or other sophisticated financial institutions Exposure to trading, derivatives, financing, investment management and/or financial regulatory matters Strong commercial judgement and the ability to work directly with senior business stakeholders An interest in joining a lean legal function where they can take on meaningful responsibility and broad exposure The position is based in New York and offers the opportunity to join one of the most established names in the alternative investment industry in a highly commercial, business-facing capacity. #J-18808-Ljbffr Simmons & Hanbury
