Inventory Control Clerk

Summary This position is primarily responsible for ensuring that direct ship supplies and inventory supplies are distributed in a timely manner throughout the Health System. This involves managing the supply flow of the storeroom inventory items by receiving stock from vendors, restocking the shelves, picking orders, delivering supplies, clean linen operations, managing supply carts, equipment distribution, and maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly environment. Responsibilities 50%* Support the work of material handlers, order fulfillment and receiving personnel with stocking, organizing receipts, and cycle counts as required and directed by the manager. Expired inventory management, standard storage supply tasks (labels, bin organization, returns, etc.), communication for PAR levels, out of stocks, recalls, Nursing feedback from Customer Service tasks while working on units, customer service for clinical needs, process improvements when Leadership directs for next level operational excellence achievements. 30%* Complete supply requisition by removing from inventory those items requested, packaging the order, staging for delivery. 20%* Maintain a neat, clean and orderly storeroom, receiving area, and outside dock area. Ensures proper rotation of stock. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain equipment as required, such as charging the electric pallet jack. Distribute/deliver stock and non-stock orders throughout the Medical Center, and MOBs including driving MyMichigan vehicle and being able to be insured through MyMichigan. Checks in/ receives stock and items within the Materials Information System, replaces Supply Clerk II occasionally in relief. In the performance of the regular job duties, it is appropriate for this position to have access to the medication room and supply room for the purpose of stocking. Other duties as assigned. Good customer service skills. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Medium.
