Location 4200 MILLS CIVIC PARKWAY, PO BOX 65320, West Des Moines, IA, 50265-2000, United States Base Pay $17.34 - $18.65 / Hour Employee Type PT Non-Exempt 1/2 Time Required Degree High school This is NOT a Civil Service position Hours of Work Part-time employees work 20 or more hours, but less than 30 hours per week Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Overtime, on Call and Weekend Work as Required Tentative Start Date July/August 2026 Job Summary Under supervision from the Fire Marshal, the Fire Inspector performs fire inspection, fire re-inspection, and fire prevention activities; enforces fire codes, laws and regulations related to fire protection, prevention and safety; inspects new and existing buildings and a variety of structures, sprinkler systems and alarm systems; investigates routine complaints of fire/life safety hazards; establishes and maintains a variety of records and files on inspection activities. Must be 18 years of age by the application deadline date Physical/Drug Testing Post offer, pre-employment physical, drug test, and psychological examination are required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
