Nurse PractitionerLocation: Downey or Mission Hills, CACore ResponsibilitiesHas a contagious and positive work ethic, inspires others, and models the behaviors of Genuine, Caring, and Friendly.Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication that is clear, well-organized, and demonstrates an understanding of audience needs.Through genuine and positive communication, makes each customer feel informed, understood, and special.An effective team player who contributes valuable ideas and feedback and can be counted on to meet commitments.Is able to keep up in the Exer environment by facing tasks and challenges with energy and passion.Pursues activities with focus and drive, defines work in terms of success, and can be counted on to complete goals.Adherence to standards of business conduct and compliance.Major ResponsibilitiesPerforms physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of Physician.Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition.Discusses case with Physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.Submits health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by Physician.Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.Refers patients to Physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.Practices standard precautions and disease-specific precautions by proper utilization of handwashing and personal protective equipment.Practices strong nursing autonomy in patient care while coordinating care with an ED MD.Triages patients while obtaining vital signs, a thorough history, and a nursing assessment.Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.Delegates within scope-of-practice to other clinical staff.Prepares equipment and aids provider during treatment and examination of patient.Maintains awareness of dignity, comfort and safety needs of patient.Always provides excellent patient care.Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies provider of patient's condition as well as any changes to the patient's condition, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol. Must be BLS, ACLS and PALS certified and competent. Must be comfortable running "codes"Manages patient flow within the center by utilizing effective communication with all disciplines.Is mindful of throughputInitiates a thorough patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by the provider and/or policy including patient and family instruction.Maintains, checks and utilizes a variety of laboratory and testing equipment.Provides follow-up for all patients to ensure good outcomes and help to implement further treatment as necessary.Maintains a clean and orderly environment.Prioritizes patients' safety and patient satisfaction.Participates in quality improvement activities.Participates in the monitoring of inventory control and supplies.Provides direct patient care interventions per his/her scope of practice and as ordered by the provider.Is mindful of procedure and equipment costs and is a steward for the company.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other QualificationsState medical licenseMinimum of 1 year experience in Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care, with at least one year of SOLO experience.Board eligibility or certificationExperience in procedures including suturing and splinting, reading diagnostic studies including x-rays and EKGsBLS/ACLS and PALS certification.Outstanding bedside manner with children and adultsEnergetic attitude which inspires other team membersDesire to contribute to building and maintaining a great organizationAbility to multi-task and work well under pressureEffective written and verbal communication skillsCompetence with computer use and EMR.Proficient at intravenous access for blood draw and drug administration.
