Job Summary

RL Jennings & Associates, PC is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant for our Ellijay office. In this role, you will support our North Georgia clientele with comprehensive accounting, periodic bookkeeping, tax preparation, and financial reporting services. You will work closely with senior staff and managers to deliver accurate, high-quality financial solutions for individuals, small businesses, and non-profits.

Key Responsibilities

• General Ledger & Bookkeeping: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and balance sheets for multiple clients. Process periodic bookkeeping, write-ups, and month-end/year-end adjustments.
• Tax Preparation: Assist in preparing federal and state income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts. Prepare local and state sales tax and payroll tax returns.
• Client Support: Act as a dependable resource for clients by answering routine financial questions and managing day-to-day accounting needs.
• Financial Reporting: Compile and analyze financial statements and reports under the guidance of senior team members.
• Compliance & Audits: Support audit, review, or compilation engagements as required for regional corporate and non-profit entities.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably within a public accounting firm environment.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and computerized accounting systems (experience with QuickBooks or Peachtree is a strong plus).
• Attributes: Excellent analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication, and a commitment to strict data confidentiality.
