We are looking for a Quality Manager who will have the opportunity to develop and improve the quality systems of AMS through teaching, coaching, and building the QMS from where it is today. Get folks to "want to” vs. "have to” ABLE TO MAKE QUALITY DISPOSITIONS USING A TECHNICAL FOUNDATION. You can make common sense quality dispositions utilizing a technical background vs. having to wait for an engineering disposition? A LEAN THINKER. Gain compliance to AS9100 and beyond to develop quality systems for your internal and external customers with LEAN THINKING ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE: Within the first 30-60 days and ongoing: Complete onboarding by learning AMS's mission, values, operational procedures, QMS processes, part numbering system, inspection plans, historical CAPAs/Company, EIPD/COC processes, and internal team responsibilities Learn AMS systems, products, and processes, including Syteline ERP, quality records, production planning, materials management, stepper and BLDC motor fundamentals, and basic motor theory through hands-on and engineer-led training Become familiar with AMS inspection tools, equipment, and processes, including ID micrometers, Keyence, CMM/GD&T, AS9102 First Article Inspections, print locations, tool usage, and basic part inspections under Manufacturing Quality Engineer guidance Actively engage with cross-functional teams through 1-on-1 meetings, daily stand-ups, weekly staff meetings, leadership meetings, and ongoing communication to ensure quality, compliance, safety, and operational excellence 3 months and ongoing: Engage key customers and suppliers to better understand quality requirements, supplier capabilities, and how the supply base supports customer expectations Lead AS9100 audit preparation and QMS activities, including contract/PO quality reviews, customer source inspections, exceptions, waivers, and product deviations Improve quality systems and inspection processes by analyzing data, refining metrics, developing Cpk capability measures, strengthening reporting for MRRs, IMRRs, RMAs, CAPAs, and reducing inspection where risk-based data supports it Develop and mentor the quality team, promote lean practices, improve data collection, and partner with leadership to drive a quality-focused culture upstream into suppliers, design, and in-process controls 6-12 months and going: Analyze quality data to identify trends, drive corrective actions, support continuous improvement, and report monthly KPIs including supplier rejects, failure trends, and customer returns Support supplier onboarding, qualification, and performance improvement by reducing incoming defects, setting pre-inspection expectations, and driving dock-to-stock readiness Execute improvement plans for supplier quality, internal quality processes, inspection efficiency, waste reduction, and risk-based inspection reduction where data supports process stability Independently perform the full Quality Manager role while improving tools, systems, ERP/e-SPC records, data analysis, product knowledge, failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: At least 5+ years' experience in a quality role in a mechanical manufacturing environment or similar role required (manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or quality manager) At least 3+ year working experience in a quality assurance or similar role within a component manufacturing environment or related field such as medical, aerospace, assembly or machining required Understanding of CpK, AS9100, IPC, hosted and conducted audits required Experience using inspection tools, CMM, micrometers, calipers, ID Micrometers, screw gauges, and use of pin gauges required Strong communication skills with the ability to summarize and present information in a clear, concise and accurate written and verbal format required Proficiency with various office equipment, computers and various programs including MS Office 365 required and Syteline ERP highly preferred Ability to produce valid green card or citizenship documentation required Ability to pass a background check with no criminal record required We are an equal opportunity employer, and we are an organization that values diversity.
