Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Electromechanical Design, CCA & Cable Harness
Location: Orlando, FL
Work Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 4/10 schedule
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – up to 50% telework available after onboarding, based on program and business needs
Pay Range: $55.55- $65.38/hr + OT

USPRO is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and integration of advanced aerospace and defense electronic hardware. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with hands-on experience in electronic packaging, circuit card assemblies, connectors, and cable/harness integration.

You will work across the full product lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through manufacturing, hardware integration, qualification, and test. The ideal candidate brings strong Creo and Windchill experience, understands CCA mechanical layout and tolerance requirements, and collaborates effectively with electrical, systems, manufacturing, reliability, and quality engineering teams.

What you will do

• Design mechanical packaging, layouts, and assemblies for circuit card assemblies, electronic enclosures, connectors, and related hardware.

• Develop detailed 3D models, drawings, and technical data packages using PTC Creo and Windchill.

• Support CCA mechanical layout, including fit, form, function, clearances, mounting, thermal considerations, and tolerance stack-up.

• Select and integrate connectors and cable/harness assemblies to meet electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and reliability requirements.

• Partner with electrical engineers to resolve electro-mechanical interface and packaging challenges.

• Support Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly reviews to improve producibility, quality, cost, and schedule performance.

• Troubleshoot manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test issues; recommend and implement practical design solutions.

• Create and maintain BOMs, engineering change documentation, drawings, models, and configuration-controlled product data.

• Support design reviews, hardware integration, qualification testing, and technical presentations.

• Ensure designs meet applicable IPC standards, customer requirements, and aerospace/defense engineering practices.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

• 3+ years of mechanical design experience supporting electronic hardware, electronic packaging, or electro-mechanical assemblies.

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with PTC Creo and Windchill.

• Experience designing or supporting Circuit Card Assembly mechanical layouts, electronic enclosures, connectors, or related packaging hardware.

• Experience supporting product development from design through manufacturing, integration, and test.

• Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, fit-up analysis, and mechanical drawing standards.

• Experience creating engineering drawings, BOMs, technical data packages, and engineering change documentation.

• Familiarity with IPC standards and configuration-controlled product-development environments.

• Strong communication, problem-solving, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with cable and harness design, routing, integration, or manufacturing support.

• Experience with Zuken for cable, harness, or electrical-system design.

• Aerospace, defense, military, avionics, or other regulated-product experience.

• Experience with environmental qualification, reliability testing, hardware verification, or product integration.

• Familiarity with DFM, DFA, manufacturing support, and engineering change processes.

• Experience collaborating with electrical, systems, reliability, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams.
