Human Resources - Employee Services Student Internship

Position Overview Under supervision, assists and participates in the work performed by employees of a specific profession; through participation, receives supervised work experience in a specific professional vocation; and performs other related duties as required. The Temporary Assistant – Professional Student Intern program targets current undergraduates directed toward a specific profession and departmental assignments, providing in‑service training through participation in the duties assigned by professional employees. Incumbents within the Temporary Assistant – Professional Student Intern classification are temporary, exempt from the County merit system, not eligible for Cost of Living Adjustments and most County‑provided employee benefits, and serve in an “At‑Will” status. Incumbents may be terminated from service at any time without notice, cause, or rights of appeal. Key Responsibilities Assisting with HR departmental SOPs and procedures. Assisting with organizing records. Documenting and standardizing HR processes. Providing fresh perspectives to revise and streamline workflows. Interns will gain hands‑on experience in HR operations for the government public sector with multiple union populations, with exposure to policy development, organizational procedures, and strengthening skills in documentation, compliance, communication, and process improvement. Internship functions include Onboarding/Offboarding, Benefits Administration, Leave Management, Payroll, Position Management, and Board Resolutions. Eligibility Criteria Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average: 2.5 GPA required. Proof of the most current unofficial/official transcript with cumulative GPA must be provided at time of application in addition to a resume. Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree. Areas of Study: Public or Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Studies, or similar. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, OneNote).
