Anesthesiology Locum Position – Illinois

Start Date: ASAP | Schedule: 24-hour OB + General Call | Duration: Ongoing

Description

We are seeking a board-certified Anesthesiologist to provide locum coverage in Illinois. The role focuses on both OB and general anesthesia services in an inpatient-only setting. This position offers flexible scheduling with approximately 15 shifts per month, which may be grouped or assigned on a PRN basis.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia care for obstetric patients, including labor epidurals and C-sections.

• Administer anesthesia for general surgery, limited orthopedic, urology, plastic surgery, and GI procedures.

• Participate in 24-hour call coverage for OB and general cases.

• Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.

• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR system (Cerner).

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Anesthesiology (new graduates will be considered).

• Active Illinois medical license or IMLC eligibility (LOQ required at time of submission).

• Minimum of 1–2 years relevant clinical experience preferred.

• Clean malpractice and background history (REQUIRED).

Working Hours

• ~15 shifts per month (can be grouped or sporadic/PRN).

• 24-hour shifts covering OB and general anesthesia cases.

• Weekend and on-call coverage as needed.

Skills

• Proficiency in obstetric and general anesthesia techniques.

• Experience with a range of surgical specialties: OB, general, limited ortho/urology, plastic surgery, and GI.

• Strong communication and team collaboration.

• Familiarity with Cerner EMR.

• Ability to adapt to varying patient volumes (6–20/day; approx. 60 per week).
