REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a C Wastewater Operator's License. Must have high school/GED education or higher. Must have 1+ years of experience. Must have valid driver's license. SUMMARY Candidate will be responsible for operating wastewater treatment plants, running machinery that converts wastewater from drains and sewers into a form safe to release. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Control equipment and monitor processes that remove or destroy harmful materials, chemicals, and microorganisms from wastewater. Run tests to ensure processes are working correctly. Keep records of water quality and other indicators. Operate and maintain pumps and motors that move water and wastewater through filtration systems. Monitor indicators at the plant and make necessary adjustments. Read meters and gauges to verify plant equipment operation. Take samples and run tests to determine quality of the water produced. Adjust amounts of chemicals, such as chlorine and fluorine, being added. Use computerized systems to monitor plant processes. Fix chemical leaks and oxygen deficiencies.
