Summary:

The Manager, Data Business Intelligence is responsible for all Contexture business intelligence development, implementation, and maintenance. The Manager will provide architectural direction and administrative support for the daily operational activities of the Business Intelligence team, including Senior Data Visualization Analysts and Data Visualization Analyst. This position will have design responsibility for projects related to Contexture’s reporting visualization platform, and will assist with planning, coordination, management, and implementation of business intelligence, including visualization and analytics, activities for both internal and external customers. This position is responsible for ensuring that direct reports have the appropriate knowledge and understanding of the underlying technologies and standards to provide effective and efficient development, implementation, and support for all assigned business intelligence, including data visualization and analytics activities. This individual will serve as a technical expert for internal and external stakeholders as it relates to business intelligence solutions offered by Contexture.

This position is based in Phoenix Arizona; Denver Colorado; or Grand Junction, Colorado and requires local residency in one of these base locations. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Coordinates with the other Contexture departments to ensure that all HIE/HIT reporting products are delivered on time, error-free and that they meet organizational and customer service expectations.
• Oversee delivery of rapid, actionable insights to accelerate decision-making across business units.
• Supports and implements strategic business plans and processes to support the successful management of Contextures BI programs.
• Provides daily supervision and management of assigned staff, maintain allocated staffing levels including leading recruitment efforts and creating on-boarding plans for new or transferred employees.
• Provides mentoring, coaching, and educational activities to support employee development that aligns with organizational goals and objectives.
• Reviews and helps implement policies and procedures which foster and sustain best practices for the department’s data, visualization, and business intelligence use case development methodologies, including project initiation, planning, execution, control and closing.
• Prioritizes team goals and tactics ensuring that the activities of the group are in line with organizational goals and objectives, customer project commitments and expectations.
• Tracks and monitors key inter- and intra-project variables and distribute key project information to direct reports.
• Assesses and escalates risks relative to assigned projects and participate in the development and implementation of mitigation plans, with appropriate escalation to leadership, as needed.
• Controls activities related to the management of assigned implementation projects to bring the projects to a timely close and transition the client appropriately.
• Ensures that proactive communications with internal and external customers are conducted periodically regarding progress during implementation period and aids as needed.
• Designs and develops business intelligence standards for use across multiple data projects.
• Designs and consults on underlying data architecture for use across multiple data business intelligence projects.
• Assists with the evaluation and testing of emerging technologies used for business intelligence including data visualizations
• In conjunction with data governance team, utilizes the library of all required standard vocabularies and nomenclatures used in normalizing inbound and outbound data used for business intelligence projects.
• Monitor and maintain the performance of data visualization tools to ensure reliable and efficient reporting across business units.
• Assists with the review and implementation of strategic business plans, processes, and other necessary project documents to support the successful management and continuous process improvement of Contexture’s data business intelligence programs.
• Maintains, enhances, and broadens knowledge and skills related to business intelligence and data access tools and applications and industry best practices.
• Supports and contributes to the organization’s culture in a way that allows staff to feel appreciated, included and valued.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills

• Prior leadership experience in delivery of business intelligence including but not limited to data visualizations, including experience leading data structure and report development efforts.

• Ability to explain complex data concepts to stakeholders, including internal and external customers.

• Demonstrated ability in leading a cross-functional teams to deliver results on complex issues.
• Ability to positively interact with a diverse set of external and internal customers helping them achieve unique applications of health information technologies.
• Knowledge of healthcare informatics and applications across the full continuum of care
• Extensive knowledge and experience in the capabilities to use and transform data into useful information for evaluation of performance, standardization, and quality of system performance.
• Experience in design, implementation, and maintenance of healthcare data evaluation systems.
• Advanced experience in the use modern business intelligence tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, SAP Business Objects, and QlickView to enhance business understanding through artistic, simple, and concise data storytelling.
• Demonstrated experience working with relational and/or hierarchical, big data databases (Mongo/SQL).
• Working knowledge of HL7, C-CDA, XCA and XDS.b standards and protocols as they relate to data reporting and business intelligence such as a data visualization.
• Strong working knowledge and application of healthcare clinical codes sets such as LOINC, SNOMED, CPT, ICD, RxNorm, etc.
• Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action, giving regard to impact on all stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and allocate assigned resources to ensure projects are efficiently and effectively completed .
• Ability to develop, test and operationalize business intelligence projects effectively and efficiently.
• Ability to convey a strong presence and professional image.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment and consistently meet strict deadlines .
• Ability to work independently as well as ability to effectively work in a team environment and maintain strong working relationships .
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Project, and Visio preferred .

Education/Experience

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the design, development, maintenance, and support of health system performance measurement structures to include process, outcome, value-based payment, and patient experience metrics development and uses.
• Experience in leading and managing cross functional technical and user-based teams desired.
• Bachelor’s Degree required in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field required; equivalent directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration, preferred.

The position may  require occasional availability for after-hours work, outside of regularly scheduled hours.

The position may require ability to periodically drive to and from clients, conferences and / or events; and / or limited travel.
