By diagnosing issues quickly, executing effective repairs, and identifying opportunities for preventive maintenance, this role directly impacts productivity, cost control, safety performance, and customer service. Success in this role means consistently delivering reliable equipment, proactively addressing maintenance concerns before they become operational disruptions, and maintaining a safe, efficient working environment that supports business growth.Maintain Trailer Reliability and SafetyPerform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on trailers to ensure safe and roadworthy operation.Identify mechanical, electrical, structural, and operational issues and implement corrective actions.Repair or replace damaged components while maintaining quality and compliance standards.Evaluate equipment condition and recommend preventive or corrective maintenance solutions.Ensure all maintenance activities align with applicable safety regulations and company standards.Execute Preventive Maintenance ProgramsPerform scheduled maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and asset life.Inspect drives, motors, belts, fluid systems, filters, and other critical components.Clean, lubricate, adjust, and service machinery and trailer systems according to maintenance schedules.Document maintenance activity and identify recurring issues requiring long-term solutions.Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing equipment failures and repair costs.Diagnose and Resolve Equipment IssuesInspect, operate, and test equipment to identify malfunctions and root causes.Utilize appropriate testing equipment, measuring devices, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot problems.Determine repair requirements and establish the most effective course of action.Perform mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs with a focus on quality and efficiency.Escalate complex issues and collaborate with maintenance leadership when specialized support is required.Support Facility Maintenance OperationsPerform routine facility maintenance and repair work to maintain a safe and productive environment.Complete floor, wall, and basic structural repairs as needed.Assist with plumbing repairs, electrical troubleshooting, and building maintenance projects.Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in a clean and organized condition.Support facility readiness by identifying and addressing maintenance concerns proactively.Drive Operational ExcellenceEstimate repair costs, material requirements, and labor needs for maintenance projects.Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate repair status effectively.Prioritize work assignments in a fast-paced operational environment.Partner with operations and regional maintenance teams to minimize disruptions and maximize equipment availability.Contribute ideas and recommendations that improve maintenance processes, safety performance, and operational efficiency.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum 1 year of mechanical maintenance experience.Working knowledge of machines, tools, repair techniques, and preventive maintenance practices.Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical systems and equipment.Basic electrical diagnosis and repair skills.Basic plumbing knowledge and repair experience.Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and precision measuring instruments.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and safety standards.Technical ExpertiseMechanical troubleshooting and repair.Preventive maintenance execution.Trailer inspection and repair.Foundation brake system diagnosis and repair.Roll-up and swing door repair.Facility maintenance and repair.Electrical testing and basic diagnostics.Equipment inspection and performance evaluation.Cost estimation for maintenance and repair activities.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience in transportation, logistics, fleet maintenance, manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments.Experience supporting high-volume operational facilities.Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance requirements related to equipment maintenance.Technical certifications or vocational training in maintenance-related disciplines preferred.How You OperateYou think beyond individual repairs and focus on long-term equipment reliability.You identify root causes rather than repeatedly addressing symptoms.You take ownership of outcomes and follow through until issues are fully resolved.You work with urgency while maintaining quality and safety standards.You prioritize preventive action over reactive maintenance whenever possible.You communicate clearly and professionally with operations and maintenance partners.You maintain high attention to detail, even in fast-paced environments.You adapt quickly to changing priorities and operational demands.You contribute solutions that improve efficiency, uptime, and overall operational performance.You promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.About RoadrunnerWe're not just moving freight; we're reimagining long-haul shipping.
