Job Title: Registered Nurse - Cardiac ICU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Intensive Care Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with fresh open heart surgeries. Recent mixed ICU patient experience. Description: Telemetry, Labor and Delivery, Emergency, and Critical Care Registered Nurses will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite on the first day. This is a PASS/FAIL test. The unit has 30 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 1-2, with 90% of the time being a 1 to 2 ratio. Charge Nurses do not take patient assignments. Nurse Aides are not present in the unit. Weekend requirement is every other weekend. There is currently no holiday requirement, but holidays may become mandatory. The scrub color is navy. Telemetry monitors are available. Ventilators are utilized in the unit. Clientists are available 24/7. An RT is available 24/7, along with pharmacy services. Shifts are 12 hours, running from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Schedules are created about 6 weeks in advance. Self-scheduling is available; however, final schedules require manager review. Floating to any telemetry or medical-surgical units is expected. The orientation is specific to the unit, lasting 1 day. Common diagnoses and types of patients include various cardiac conditions. Candidates must have recent experience in handling fresh open heart surgeries and mixed ICU patient care. The hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment.
