Registered Nurse - Mother Baby Unit

Location Overland Park, KS

Assignment Duration This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule 7 PM to 7 AM, with a commitment to typically 2 hard-to-staff shifts (Monday/Friday) and 1 full weekend every 3rd week.

Job Description The Registered Nurse in the Mother Baby unit provides specialized care to women of childbearing age and newborns. The role involves recognizing unit workflow, adhering to policies and procedures within the postpartum unit, and assessing and identifying risk factors related to various conditions such as sepsis and venous thromboembolism. Nurses are responsible for discharge education, assessment of pain management, and prioritization of patient care based on acuity.

Responsibilities Assess and manage postpartum patients and newborns. Monitor vital signs and administer medications as prescribed. Provide education and support to new mothers regarding infant care. Facilitate and attend births for newborns. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Current BLS and NRP certifications required. Ability to utilize documentation systems like CPN and Meditech.
