Nurse Navigator - Interventional Radiology Pediatric Program

Description It's an exciting time to join the Interventional Radiology team at UNC Health! Our services are expanding to include a more inclusive offering of Pediatric Interventional Radiology (VIR) at UNC Medical Center. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Nurse to join our growing team as a Nurse Navigator. In this role, you will work closely with our Pediatric provider and serve as a close point of contact for the pediatric patient and family throughout their IR journey. This position offers a lot of patient and family engagement and interaction along with professional autonomy. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities. Flexible scheduling options are available. Qualifications A minimum of two years of hospital nursing experience, along with 1 year experience in Interventional Radiology or Pediatric nursing preferred Strong organizational and communication skills The ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from a state-accredited school of professional nursing Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification Two (2) years of nursing experience and one (1) year in the area of specialization Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements Proficiency in patient care coordination across multiple disciplines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage complex scheduling and logistics in a fast-paced environment Commitment to continuous learning and professional development Responsibilities Ensure continuity of communication between a patient's various care providers within and outside the UNCHCS community. Maintain continuing education and professional growth as a Nurse Navigator. Interview patients regarding their current health practices, identify health problems, determine the degree of compliance with prescribed treatment plans, document this information in the patient's chart, analyze data from interviews and chart reviews to determine nursing care needs, coordinate scheduling of tests, labs, X-rays, consultations, and interact with referring physician offices for new and ongoing care issues. Provide programmatic leadership within the Nurse Navigator role.
