Full‑Time, Hourly Shift Assignment: Overnight Shift 10:00 pm - 6:30 am Hourly Rate: $25.50 Summary The Engineering Tech 1 performs a variety of maintenance and repair work on architectural assets, including buildings, facilities, grounds, equipment, safety concerns, and ancillary infrastructure. The incumbent is responsible for technical tasks related to facility maintenance and must possess diverse experience, training, and knowledge to ensure seamless operations and uphold the highest standards of excellence within the physical environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintain accurate records of maintenance activity, including work orders, inspections, repairs, and equipment servicing. Support the Engineering Tech 2 in preventative maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and locking equipment. Perform scheduled maintenance projects such as HVAC filter replacement, lubrication of pumps and bearings, and lighting repair. Diagnose and repair issues with building systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance. Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns. Assist in developing preventative maintenance measures to prolong equipment life. Keep all equipment and work areas clean, neat, and orderly. Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment. Repair or troubleshoot ladders, lifts, and catwalks up to 50 feet. Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards. Adhere to organizational safety protocols and minimize risks. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, including after‑hours incidents. Stay prepared to address urgent repairs and ensure facility safety and security. Keep abreast of industry standards and advancements in facility maintenance. Assist in the coordination and execution of facility improvement projects. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position. Required Education & Experience High School Diploma. Minimum of three years of experience as a facility engineer in the hospitality and service industry. Fire Life Safety experience, including troubleshooting and responding to fire panels and smoke detectors. HVAC and refrigeration experience with commercial air handlers, VAVs, fan coil units, and associated equipment. Electrical experience with high and low voltage circuits, timers, contactors, and breaker panels. Plumbing experience with drain clearing, pipe soldering, and fixture replacement. Basic finish carpentry, masonry, tilework, and painting skills. Strong technical knowledge of building systems and maintenance best practices. Solid understanding of safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards. Required Skills & Qualifications At least 18 years old or turning 18 within 30 days of employment. Successful completion of background check and drug screening. Proficient reading, writing, and communication in English; Spanish is a plus. Availability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Exceptional problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks. High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. Capability to analyze data, prioritize work, and resolve problems urgently. Proficiency in hand and power tools and equipment. Ability to troubleshoot building systems and equipment. Legal authorization to work in the United States. Computer Skills Navigate building control systems. Use word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and internet applications. Basic use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Physical Job Requirements Work indoors and outdoors with exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, odors, hazards, varying temperatures, and weather. Stand, walk, climb, and perform physically active work throughout the shift. Frequently sit, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and balance. Operate at elevated heights and in confined spaces as needed. Lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials up to 75 pounds. Operate hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, machinery, computers, and motorized vehicles safely. Wear required personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, harnesses, and respirators. Use a two‑way radio for extended periods and respond promptly to emergency communications. Pass a controlled–substance screening due to public‑safety responsibilities.
