ABOUT THE POSITION There is currently one (1) full time regular hire vacancy within the Risk Division of the Human Resources Department. The County of Marin is seeking an occupational health and safety professional to coordinate county-wide safety initiatives and support departments' staff in developing operation-specific safety programs as a member of the centralized Human Resources Department's Safety Unit. This position provides technical support, consultation, and training to all levels of County staff in 22 different departments, agencies, and special districts. This position provides technical support, consultation, and training to all levels of County staff in 22 different departments, agencies, and special districts. A Safety/Workplace Violence Prevention Analyst's responsibilities include:
- Consulting with departments to gain a full understanding of their operational requirements, environment, and safety/security programs.
- Coordinating county-wide safety and health programs such as Injury and Illness Prevention, Driver's Safety, Ergonomics, Emergency Action Planning, Hazard Communication, and Construction Safety.
- Advising management on safety program development strategies.
- Researching, interpreting, and applying regulations, rules, and policies to a wide range of safety and health topics.
- Preparing written recommendations, reports, and oral presentations.
- Developing, conducting, and/or facilitating training programs for managers, supervisors, and employees.
- Reviewing work-related accidents/injuries.
- Developing targeted loss prevention programs.
- Coordinating county-wide safety and health programs such as Injury and Illness Prevention, Driver's Safety, Ergonomics, Emergency Action Planning, Hazard Communication, Construction Safety, and Workplace Violence Prevention activities.
Our Highly Qualified Candidate has:
- Proven experience developing, coordinating, and implementing a broad range of occupational safety programs and management systems.
- A demonstrated ability to establish strong working relationships and communicate effectively across all levels of an organization, and positively influence outcomes.
- The ability to present information in a compelling way to a variety of audiences.
- The ability to guide departments in support of occupational safety.
- Project management experience, including data analysis, management of cross-functional teams, and development of targeted loss prevention programs.
- A familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Learning Management Systems, Content Management Systems.
- A "Solutions-Based" passion for Occupational Safety and Health and problem-solving.
- Experience in Occupational Safety and Health, or a closely related field such as Business Administration, Communications, Organizational Development, Public Administration, etc.
- Coordinating county-wide safety and health programs such as Injury and Illness Prevention, Driver's Safety, Ergonomics, Emergency Action Planning, Hazard Communication, Construction Safety, and Workplace Violence Prevention activities.
Knowledge of:
- Local, Federal, and California occupational safety and health regulations, standards, and best practices related to Injury and Illness Prevention, Workplace Violence Prevention, Ergonomics, Emergency Preparedness, and other occupational safety programs in a public-sector setting.
- Analyze workplace safety and violence incident data to identify patterns and root causes, and develop practical, data-informed recommendations to prevent recurrence and reduce risk.
- Develop and deliver engaging training and presentations on workplace safety and violence prevention topics to diverse audiences with varying levels of technical expertise.
