Trial Attorney PositionJared R. Levy and Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, is seeking an experienced Trial Attorney located in the Portland Metropolitan area. This is an opportunity to join State Farm's Claim Litigation team based in Seattle, WA, defending clients in Oregon state courts.Work Arrangement: This is a remote role, with a requirement to be on-site for in-person meetings (Office Location: 901 5th Avenue, Suite 830, Seattle, WA 98164) on a monthly basis. Travel and other approved work-related expenses are fully reimbursed.The role involves case ownership, participating in litigation events, and meeting with clients. Because our attorneys are not billed by the hour, you have the opportunity to focus on strategy and trial/case development as matters move through litigation. State Farm also provides an inclusive environment with career development opportunities.ResponsibilitiesHandle litigation and other legal assignments in accordance with guidelines established by the Law DepartmentPrepare and summarize reports for proceedingsDevelop trial strategy and case development plansAttend litigation events, including trials, mediations, depositions, and hearingsQualifications8+ years of civil litigation experience in Oregon, preferably in insurance defense or personal injuryMay also consider additional experience in medical malpractice and workers' compensationExtensive jury trial experienceKey Skills RequiredStrong knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and substantive law appropriate to experience levelProven experience with trials, depositions, and mediationDemonstrated ability to maintain file ownership and work autonomouslyExcellent written and oral communication skillsTechnology RequirementsAbility to work efficiently with cases in electronic formWorking knowledge of a case management systemWorking knowledge of a document storage systemEducation RequirementsJ.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic credentialsMust hold an active Oregon law license and be in good standing with the Oregon State BarA Washington State Bar license is preferred.
