Medical Assistant

Perform clinical and office duties under Physician/Provider/Nurse supervision Check schedules, organize patient flow, room and assist patients, obtain histories, perform screenings, and assist with procedures Chart patient information and relay instructions to patients and families Answer calls and manage patient records and documents Schedule surgical procedures and tests Obtain pre-certification and verify insurance coverage and patient demographics Manage and update charts Maintain examination-room orderliness, cleanliness, supplies, and required logs Clean exam/procedure rooms and follow infection-control protocols Assist with EMR/EHR management and queue laboratory and radiology orders Respect and promote patient rights and respond appropriately to emergencies Obtain vital signs and prepare for physical examinations and procedures Collect and appropriately handle laboratory specimens Perform electrocardiography and other office-specific tasks Perform waived laboratory testing when permitted Participate in daily huddles and regular practice-team meetings Perform other related duties as assigned Requirements High school required; GED preferred Basic Medical Terminology proficiency Electronic Scheduling proficiency Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience BLS required within 3 months of hire / 90 days Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred Adherence to NYS Medical Assistant scope of practice Ability to perform medical/surgical asepsis, obtain vital signs, assist with procedures, collect specimens, and perform electrocardiography Ability to follow infection-control standards, including hand hygiene, PPE, patient isolation, and equipment disinfection Core Competencies Demonstrates proficiency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) management, patient care procedures, and infection control standards while effectively supporting clinical operations and patient flow in a healthcare setting.
