Weekend Shift Supervisor

Position Summary The Weekend Shift Supervisor is the senior front-line leader responsible for manufacturing execution during the weekend shift. The Operations Manager sets the production plan; you turn that plan into coordinated action across the full production flow: Striping to Parts to TSS to Finished Flag. You will directly lead the Striping and Parts teams and directly manage the TSS Supervisor, who remains responsible for day-to-day execution within TSS. This structure requires you to lead both employees and another leader. You are expected to set direction, maintain accountability and solve problems through the TSS Supervisor rather than routinely bypassing that role. Your responsibility is not simply to keep each department busy. It is to ensure the entire weekend production system works together to achieve the plan safely, efficiently and at the required quality standard. You will have meaningful authority to deploy resources, adjust workflow, address performance and make the routine operating decisions necessary to deliver results. The Operations Manager sets the plan. You lead the shift, run the production system and own the result. Core Accountabilities 1. Lead the Shift You are the primary manufacturing leader for the weekend shift. You create clarity at the start of the shift, maintain a visible presence on the floor and keep the operation focused as conditions change. Set clear priorities and expectations across Striping, Parts and TSS. Maintain awareness of staffing, equipment, materials and operational risks throughout the shift. Create accountability for production, quality, attendance, safety and behavior. Make timely decisions and ensure problems are addressed rather than passed downstream or left for the next shift. Build a culture of urgency, teamwork, accountability and pride in craftsmanship. When senior leadership is not physically present, you are expected to lead confidently within the authority of the role. 2. Lead the People and the Leaders You own the leadership system for the shift. For Striping and Parts employees, that means direct supervision. For TSS, it means setting expectations and holding the TSS Supervisor accountable for leading the department effectively. Set and reinforce clear expectations for performance, quality, attendance and behavior. Coach employees and the TSS Supervisor regularly, recognize strong performance and address problems promptly. Conduct performance reviews and development conversations, and identify training and cross-training needs. Manage attendance and performance issues in partnership with HR, including corrective action and termination recommendations. Require the TSS Supervisor to actively manage the performance, development and standards of the TSS team. Step in when necessary while preserving clear lines of authority and accountability. HR is a partner in people management, not a substitute for management. 3. Execute the Production Plan The Operations Manager establishes the production plan approximately two weeks in advance. You are responsible for understanding that plan before the shift begins, translating it into clear priorities and managing execution throughout the weekend. Track actual production against plan and know whether the shift and each area are ahead, on plan or behind. Manage staffing, workflow, materials and equipment to maximize productive time. Deploy and redeploy labor within your authority based on production requirements. Manage the flow and handoffs between Striping, Parts and TSS. Identify bottlenecks early and require a clear recovery plan when performance falls behind. Escalate material deviations from the established plan to the Operations Manager for approval. You should never reach the end of a shift and be surprised by the result. 4. Own Performance and Improve the Operation You are accountable for the performance of the entire weekend production system. Success is not one department hitting its number while another falls behind. Your scope includes production attainment, quality, productivity, labor use, attendance, safety, employee performance, training, process discipline and required administrative work. Identify performance problems early and determine root causes rather than treating symptoms. Remove obstacles, make timely decisions and stop production when safety or quality requires it. Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Inventory, HR and other functions when additional expertise is needed. Address recurring problems through improvements to process, training, equipment and workflow. Continuously look for practical ways to improve productivity, quality and production flow. Manufacturing problems are expected. Allowing the same problems to repeatedly disrupt production is not. 5. Create Visibility and a Clean Handoff The weekend shift is part of a continuous manufacturing operation. Weekday leadership must have an accurate picture of what happened, what remains unresolved and what could affect the upcoming plan. Maintain accurate visibility into production results throughout the shift. Complete production and administrative reporting accurately and on time. Communicate significant quality, equipment, staffing, safety and employee issues. Document unresolved problems, actions already taken and risks to the upcoming plan. Provide a clear, actionable handoff to the Operations Manager and weekday leadership. There should be no avoidable surprises for the next shift. Decision Authority This role is expected to make decisions. Within the established production plan, you have authority to assign and move employees, adjust workflow and sequencing, rebalance resources within your scope, take equipment or production offline for safety or quality, address employee performance and behavior, direct the TSS Supervisor and engage supporting functions to resolve operational issues. Operations Manager approval is required for material deviations from the established production plan, overtime and significant decisions outside the normal scope of shift execution. The expectation is not that you ask permission for routine operating decisions. The expectation is that you exercise sound judgment, act within your authority and escalare appropriately. Striping, Parts and TSS operate as one connected production system. The shift’s position against plan is known throughout the day, and bottlenecks are addressed before they materially affect output. Labor and resources are adjusted intelligently as conditions change. Employees and supervisors understand expectations, receive regular coaching and are held accountable. Attendance and performance issues are actively managed rather than deferred. Recurring problems lead to durable improvements instead of recurring workarounds. Reporting is accurate, handoffs are clear and senior leadership can trust that the weekend operation is being actively led. Candidate Profile We are looking for a proven manufacturing leader capable of owning a shift, not simply supervising a department. The strongest candidates will bring: Previous supervisory experience in manufacturing, production or another disciplined operating environment. Demonstrated success leading production teams against measurable goals, ideally with responsibility for approximately 15-30 employees. Experience leading another supervisor, team leader or senior employee; strongly preferred. A practical understanding of production flow, labor deployment, bottlenecks and constraint management. The judgment and confidence to make decisions, diagnose problems and have difficult performance conversations. Strong organizational discipline, follow-through and communication across departments, shifts and functions. A continuous-improvement mindset and the ability to remain composed under pressure. Industrial sewing or textile manufacturing experience is helpful, but not required. We would rather hire an exceptional manufacturing leader who can learn our production process than an exceptional operator who has not demonstrated the ability to lead people and own operating results. What This Role Is Not This is not a senior operator position or a working-supervisor role where most of the shift is spent operating production equipment. It is not a role limited to assigning work, monitoring activity or passing difficult employee and operating problems to HR or the Operations Manager. It is also not a structure in which the Shift Supervisor routinely bypasses the TSS Supervisor and manages the TSS team for them. Your output is the performance of the people, leaders and production system you lead. Reporting Structure and Schedule The Weekend Shift Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager, directly leads approximately 10-14 employees across Striping and Parts, and directly manages the TSS Supervisor. The role carries overall leadership and accountability for approximately 16-20 employees across the weekend manufacturing operation. Required schedule: Friday-Sunday, 5:00 AM-5:30 PM. Consistent attendance during the assigned shift is an essential requirement of this leadership position.
