The Medivan Driver contributes to an environment where every connection matters, ensuring each patient is treated with dignity, respect, and care throughout their journey.Primary Work Shift: Night RotationalRegular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40Compensation Range: $17.05 - $22.17 per hour, depending on experienceJob ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:Safely transport patients, equipment, supplies, and decedents between hospital departments and external locations to support timely, coordinated care deliveryOperate Medivan and departmental vehicles, including hydraulic lifts, in accordance with safety standards, traffic laws, and organizational policiesAssist patients with transfers to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds while maintaining dignity, comfort, and safetyProvide courteous, compassionate, and professional customer service to patients, families, and clinical staff during all transport interactionsUtilize electronic devices and applications to document transports, routes, and required operational data accurately and in real timePerform routine cleaning, inspection, and basic maintenance checks of vehicles and transport equipment to ensure readiness and reliabilityScope and Impact:Support patient flow, operational efficiency, and overall patient experience through reliable and timely transportation servicesExercise judgment within defined procedures to prioritize safety, escalate issues, and respond appropriately to routine operational challengesWork under general supervision with accountability for assigned routes, schedules, documentation accuracy, and service qualityCompliance and Professional:Maintain a valid driver license and clean driving record and, when operating a personal vehicle for business purposes, current vehicle registration and automobile insuranceComplete required safety, HIPAA, customer service, and equipment training within established timeframes and maintain ongoing competencyAdhere to all motor vehicle regulations, hospital policies, and documentation standards to support regulatory compliance and risk mitigationSafeguard sensitive data by following established security policies and procedures, using systems responsibly, and promptly reporting potential security incidents, risks, or policy violationsAs applicable to your role, support cybersecurity and data protection requirements throughout the supplier lifecycle by coordinating vendor risk assessments, monitoring third-party compliance, and promptly reporting identified supply chain or cybersecurity risksAdditional Expectations:Support cross-coverage across Supply Chain (e.g., dispatching, mailroom, linen, materials management, driving support where applicable) to meet operational needs and ensure reliable service deliveryCommunicate clearly, professionally, and courteously to build dependable working relationships and deliver responsive internal customer serviceDemonstrate UHS Values of Compassion, Trust, Respect, Teamwork, and Innovation in all daily work and interactionsExecute responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable regulationsPerform additional responsibilities as required to meet department and organizational needsPosition QualificationsRequired:High School Diploma or equivalentDriver LicenseBasic Life Support (BLS) certification (may be obtained within 6 months of hire)Preferred:At least 1 year of direct experience performing the exact or very similar duties required by the job within the same role or functionUp to 1 year of customer/patient-facing experience directly interacting and communicating with the publicUp to 1 year of healthcare experience working in the healthcare industry in any job function
