Diesel Mechanic Pay and Benefits Starting salary: $28-$32.50 per hour depending on experience Stable hours for financial stability Tool allowance worth $250 quarterly Boot allowance worth $150 twice a year Comprehensive healthcare coverage includes dental, vision and prescription coverage. Hours and Location Monday – Friday each week (possible rotating Saturdays) Start time approximately 2-3pm Stable hours for financial security and work‑life balance. Repair/maintenance shop at Hyattsville, MD hauling site. Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment. Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts. Perform within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs). Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns. Perform safety checks on vehicles. Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage and accounting for repair times. Assist senior mechanics in completing project work. Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. Maintain clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate/OSHA standards. Qualifications Minimum 2 years relevant work experience. Valid driver’s license with clean driving record. Over 18 years old. Legally eligible to work in the U.S. Physical ability to perform job requirements. Successful completion of pre‑employment drug screening and physical exam. Physical Demands and Work Environment Exert frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing; standing, walking, grasping; occasionally sitting and balancing. Exposure to physical occupational risks such as cuts, burns, chemicals. Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes. Work inside garage, shop, gas plant and outside conditions with inclement weather, heat, humidity. The salary range for this position is $28.00–$32.50 per hour.
