Machinist - Lathe Full Time Manual Labor — Pennsylvania, Bethlehem, PA, US Job Summary The Lathe Machinist will perform a variety of finish machining practices involved with turning, boring, drilling and threading while maintaining close tolerances on a wide variety of components from various industries. The ideal candidate needs to be fluent with Fanuc Controls. The candidate must be able to read and interpret drawings, work instructions, read and understand programs, all to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements. Must have basic hand & measuring tools, indicators, etc. Responsibilities Perform finish machining operations including turning, boring, drilling and threading. Read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and G‑code programs. Maintain close tolerances on a wide variety of components. Operate basic hand and measuring tools, indicators, micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators. Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required. Work in a shop environment, stand, sit, and perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and stretching. Operate small lifts, pallet jacks, and other lifting equipment. Use large propane/acetylene torches safely. Take care of and calibrate measuring devices. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Monitor machine while working to adjust feed, maintain temperature, and identify issues. Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion. Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and instructions. Qualifications Basic machining knowledge and practices required. Read and understand blueprints and G‑code. Competent reading drawings and following instructions necessary to produce usable and saleable parts. Hold tolerances as dictated by drawings, written instructions, or industry standards. Basic computer and math skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Basic verbal and written communication skills. Patience, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. Ability to work within a team. Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and in a physically demanding environment. Required Experience & Education High school diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution. Associate’s degree in Machine Trade preferred but not required. Other Information Position is full time and located in Bethlehem, PA. Evening and weekend shifts depending on company needs. 60‑day probation period; performance reviewed after probation. Hourly compensation with bi‑weekly pay periods. English proficiency required for communication with shop supervision and safety directives. Authorized to work in the United States. Must pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test, physical performance evaluation, and background check. Can be required to participate in random drug testing. Government contract requirements may apply; employees not meeting requirements may be reassigned. Physical Requirements Stand, walk, stand, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance for significant portions of the shift. Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Use hands for assembly and tool usage. No allergies or issues related to handling metals including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise and metal particles.
