Tech - Surgical

Job Summary: The Surgical Tech I supports operating room procedures by preparing and organizing surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring sterile conditions, and assisting surgical teams. This role emphasizes adherence to policies, proper handling of specimens, and maintaining equipment for efficient patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and assemble surgical instruments and supplies according to surgeon preferences and hospital policies.
• Maintain accurate count of sponges, needles, and instruments throughout procedures.
• Handle and process specimens in accordance with OR policies and procedures.
• Control contamination by performing decontamination, sterilization, and disinfection of instruments and equipment.
• Dispose of contaminated needles and syringes safely at the end of procedures.
• Collaborate with team members to plan patient care and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or equivalent training.
• Possess or actively pursuing professional certification by the AST.
• Demonstrate foundational knowledge of sterile techniques and operating room procedures.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., push or pull 400 lbs., and stand for extended periods.
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center or specialties such as vascular, ortho trauma, spine, neuro, or endovascular is preferred.
