Details Neuro ICU within an acute care, Level 1 Trauma hospital with 32 beds Patient population includes critical care neuro diagnoses such as craniotomies, brain tumor removal, ablations, brain biopsies, complicated spine surgeries, and scoliosis repair Patient ratio is 1:2 Charge nurse role available but does not take patients Uses Cerner EMR Uses Phillips telemetry monitors and manages ventilated patients RT and pharmacy support available 24/7 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7am 4 total weekend shifts per 4-week schedule May be placed on standby for a scheduled shift First to float among ICU, Med-Surg, and Tele units, possibly to other campus locations, with a 4:1 ratio on Tele floors Floor-specific orientation consists of 2 shifts Requirements Active AZ or Compact RN license required BLS and ACLS certification required Minimum 2 years of ICU experience in a large (450 bed) hospital required, though candidates with at least 18 months of Neuro ICU experience may be considered Level 1 Trauma experience required EVD experience required Strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience required Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting an offer, with up to 2 attempts allowed Must pass a sterile technique exam for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day 1 of orientation, with up to 2 attempts allowed Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings Men must be clean shaven to accommodate fit testing Driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Provide critical care nursing to complex neuro ICU patients, including post-surgical craniotomy and spine surgery cases Complete SIMs Lab competency for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, with an emphasis on maintaining sterile field Additional educational training provided on lifts, restraints, and wound care Scrubs may be any color or print, except steel grey which is reserved for neuro floors Holiday coverage is required as part of the core staff rotation First-time travelers are welcome to apply Candidates must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity Health, within the past year Time off requests must be approved by the unit manager, and candidates requesting more than 7 days of PTO may not qualify for auto-offer Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license Travelers must have their own vehicle American Traveler Job ID P-745024.
