The Office for Children with SpecialHealth Care Needs (OCSHCN) is seeking an Audiologist II in either Morehead or Prestonsburg. The Office forChildren with Special Health Care Needs (OCSHCN) provides comprehensive services for children and youth withspecial health care needs through our pediatric specialty clinics, care coordination, case management,therapies, and collaborations. The Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion,sex, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity, ancestry, age, disability, political affiliation,genetic information, or veteran status in accordance with state and federal laws.Performs professional work in identifying, appraising, and interpreting communicative disorders of hearing.Participates in hearing conservation programs, in aural habilitative and rehabilitative programming,coordinates the audiological work of subordinate staff members and performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serves as a member of multidisciplinary treatment team. Provides diagnostic and case management ofaudiologic services to Clinic and Non-Clinic patients.
- Provides services related to hearing devices including evaluations, fittings, repairs, modifications androutine monitoring. Oversees annual calibration of audiological equipment and monitors warranted repair.
- Partners and collaborates with regional birthing hospitals, families and community audiologists to ensureinfants are screened for hearing loss and receive warranted follow up services.
- Counsels patients and families on available resources in home community. Facilitates transition frompediatric to adult care.
- Plans and organizes, develops educational programs for families and other professionals or staff.
- Coordinates the audiometric work of nonprofessional or professional subordinate staff includingnurses/hospital and school personnel, graduate students, early interventionists and others.
- Performs Other Duties as Assigned.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure.
- Demonstrates flexibility and critical thinking.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
- Experience with cochlear implants and other implantable devices is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Records Management.
- Travels throughout the region as needed.
