Surgical Registered Nurse - FT

Overview Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine (ACRM) specializes in the treatment of infertility and other reproductive endocrinology disorders. Find out more about our center by visiting Position The surgical nurse provides individualized nursing care to the surgical patient and is cross-trained in the roles of pre-op, surgical scrub, recovery room and circulator. This is a full time, 40 hours a week position with rotating weekends/holidays. Essential Duties Pre-op: Reviews patient chart/plan of care Pre-op: Completes necessary consent forms Pre-op: Completes pre-op checklist Pre-op: Enters pertinent info to EMR system Pre-op: Performs pre-op/post op teaching Pre-op: Completes necessary lab work/IV therapy/treatments as indicated by MD/Plan of care Pre-op: Keeps MD and Anesthesia provider appraised of patient status Pre-op: Maintains clean work area/restocks supplies where needed Pre-op: Performs pre/post op calls Pre-op: Assists in other areas where needed Surgical Scrub: Performs necessary quality control checks Surgical Scrub: Prepares OR for surgical case Surgical Scrub: Assists in proper patient positioning Surgical Scrub: Assists MD with procedure while maintaining sterile technique Surgical Scrub: Performs abdominal U/S guidance for embryo transfers Surgical Scrub: Collects and appropriately handles specimens Surgical Scrub: Cleans and processes instruments Surgical Scrub: Maintains, restocks OR environment Surgical Scrub: Assists in other areas where needed Recovery Room: RR/PACU receives patient report from Anesthesia Provider/Circulator Recovery Room: Monitors patient status-VS/pain/bleeding-keeps MD and Anesthesia provider informed Recovery Room: Administers necessary medications and fluids Recovery Room: Completes paper chart and enters information accurately into EMR system Recovery Room: Sets-up Escript prescriptions Recovery Room: Schedules necessary follow-up appointments with patients Recovery Room: Reinforces post-op teaching with patient and family Recovery Room: Notifies MD when patient has met all discharge criteria Recovery Room: Transports patient to car via wheelchair Recovery Room: Cleans/Restocks PACU area Recovery Room: Assists in next day chart prep/pre and post op calls Recovery Room: Assists with cleaning and processing of instruments Circulator: Pulls necessary medications from narcotics cabinet with another RN and verifies drug counts Circulator: Reviews plan of care prior to surgery Circulator: Assists with proper patient positioning Circulator: Administers necessary treatments/injections/bloodwork as noted from plan of care Circulator: Maintains OR flow during the procedure day Circulator: Assists with providing additional supplies/equipment needed during surgery Circulator: Provides report to RR nurse Circulator: Enters necessary info to EMR system Circulator: Accurately maintains/labels specimens Circulator: Assists MA with cleaning sterilizers Circulator: Unpacks and puts away supply orders/laundry Circulator: Maintains clean environment in all areas of the OR Circulator: Assists MA with scanning charts to eBridge Circulator: Attends necessary training/staff meetings; for example: CPR/ACLS, OSHA/Bloodborne pathogens, maintains continuing education courses and necessary licensing Circulator: Restocks unit paperwork/charts as needed Assists OR Manager as necessary: ordering, policy writing/auditing, QI projects. Requirements PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION Active Registered Nurse license 2 Year Associates degree 1 year plus post-surgical experience Demonstrated ability to effectively operate the EMR and other computer programs as necessary Must be able to learn the IVF process and provide necessary care for IVF patients Superb written and verbal communication skills Intermediate skill level in MS Office products, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint Strong organizational skills Effective written and verbal communication skills with co-workers, management and patients Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and individually Ability to change priorities and manage task deadlines effectively Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously Excellent attention to detail Ability to function with minimal supervision Ability to exercise appropriate judgment and strong problem-solving skills Demonstrated excellent customer service and listening skills Demonstrated professionalism, dedication to quality, and strong work ethic #J-18808-Ljbffr Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine
