It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.Description of WorkThis Clinical Dietitian position provides on-going, in-depth nutritional assessment of patients who are at increased nutritional risk and requires the development, implementation and review of nutrition care plans to assure attainment and maintenance of optimal nutritional status. This position provides patient counseling with a significant amount of time devoted to those who have chronic or high-risk medical and/or psychiatric problems. The Clinical Dietician is the nutrition expert and resource person for program events that concern health and nutrition issues within the facility. They will develop all menus and detailed recipes and track inventory (to include USDA) as maintained through the food service vendor. This position will serve as the hospital's liaison regarding issues related to food preparation, safety and inventory.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesRecruitment Range: $50,879.00 - $76,318.00Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's)Ability to analyze food management and clinical nutrition care operations to evaluate needs and improvements.Ability to assess, design and implement nutritional care plans for individuals.Knowledge of current accepted principles and practices of nutrition and dietetics.Knowledge of diet therapy and disease.Per G.S. 126-5(c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.About the FacilityThe Walter B. Jones Center operates two adult inpatient treatment programs on site in Greenville, NC: (1) Woodside Treatment Center and (2) Lakeside Psychiatric Hospital. The primary purpose and mission of the Walter B. Jones Center is "To provide inpatient treatment, psychiatric stabilization and medical detoxification for individuals with mental health, substance use and other co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses for ongoing community based treatment and recovery". The Center is accredited by the Joint Commission and SAMHSA/CSAT. Two specialty programs are offered to all 100 NC Counties: (1) Inpatient Opioid Treatment for adults and (2) Inpatient Perinatal Services for women in their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters with substance use disorders.Supplemental Contact Information:Hiring salary will be based on relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position.Positions in the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities shall be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal record background checks.
