Accounting Assistant II

Carson City, NV | Full-Time | Temporary Assignment | $22.13 per Hour We are currently seeking two detail-oriented Accounting Assistant II professionals to support a temporary accounting project in Carson City. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with accounting and administrative experience who enjoy working in a structured environment where accuracy, organization, and attention to detail are essential. The selected candidates will assist with a variety of accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, auditing financial transactions, and processing travel claims while ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. Successful candidates will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, working with financial documentation, maintaining accurate records, and providing clerical support as needed. This role is ideal for individuals who possess strong organizational skills, enjoy problem-solving, and take pride in producing accurate and timely work. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions within established deadlines. Review, audit, and process restitution payments and related financial documents. Research, upload, and maintain electronic records and supporting documentation. Process and distribute checks. Code and process transactions within financial management systems. Audit and process employee travel claims, including in-state, out-of-state, and extradition-related travel expenses. Maintain accurate financial and administrative records. Organize and file accounting documentation. Answer incoming phone calls and provide professional customer service. Assist with general clerical and administrative duties as assigned. Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and accounting standards. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or related clerical accounting functions preferred. Experience working with financial records, invoices, payments, and data entry. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Experience maintaining organized records and managing detailed information. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial recordkeeping practices. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing financial transactions. Ability to review, audit, and reconcile financial information. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Professional customer service skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
