Physical Therapist RN

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist is responsible for implementing patient rehabilitation programs to improve mobility, function, and strength in an outpatient clinic setting. This role involves evaluating and treating patients, supervising PT Assistants and Aides, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with physicians and staff to ensure quality patient care. The Physical Therapist must be physically able to assist patients and perform job duties requiring mobility and lifting. Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and treat patients for physical therapy and rehabilitation programs.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Records to complete evaluations, reports, and discharge summaries.
• Guide and monitor patient care throughout treatment and follow-up.
• Supervise PT Assistants and Aides in all aspects of patient care.
• Communicate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure quality care.
• Maintain accurate patient chart documentation and follow up on prescriptions, test results, and authorizations.
• Ensure patient comfort and respond to patient questions.
• Coordinate with front office staff regarding scheduling and patient follow-up.
• Make independent decisions regarding patient care.
• Participate in business marketing and referral processes as needed.
• Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures to protect patient privacy.
• Be familiar with PT billing policies and procedures, including Medicare, workers' compensation, private insurance, and cash pay.
• Be proficient in diagnostic and ICD-10 coding for billing purposes.
• Maintain physical mobility to perform tasks involving sitting, walking, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and assisting patients with transfers and mobility safety.
• Comply with OSHA, federal, and state regulations.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active license as a Physical Therapist in the state of employment or eligibility to obtain licensure soon.
• Degree in Physical Therapy.
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records and computer skills including typing, Word, and Internet use.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy protection.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and assist patients with mobility restraints safely.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Continuing education courses in Physical Therapy.
• Experience with Medicare, workers' compensation, private insurance billing, and ICD-10 coding.
• Experience in outpatient or rehabilitation physical therapy settings.

Special Considerations:

• Must adhere to strict patient privacy and confidentiality policies in compliance with HIPAA.
• Position requires physical mobility including prolonged standing, walking, and lifting.
• Work environment is outpatient physical therapy clinic.
• No travel is expected for this position.

Scheduling:

• Full-time schedule with 8-hour workdays, 5 days per week.
• Schedule may involve prolonged standing and physical activity based on patient care needs.
