Job Summary
The EHS Technician supports environmental, health, safety, and industrial hygiene programs within a manufacturing environment. This role assists with accident investigations, compliance audits, environmental reporting, safety training, hazardous waste management, fire protection, ergonomic assessments, and regulatory compliance activities. The technician works with managers, supervisors, contractors, and employees to identify and address workplace hazards, reduce accidents and injuries, protect the environment, and maintain compliance with applicable regulations and permits.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with accident and incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain environmental, health, safety, and industrial hygiene files and records.
• Support the plant safety committee and related safety initiatives.
• Assist managers, supervisors, and training personnel with EHS presentations and training materials.
• Monitor applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and recommend policy or process updates.
• Conduct EHS inspections and audits throughout the facility and document recommended corrective actions.
• Review equipment installations and process modifications for environmental, health, and safety considerations.
• Maintain and monitor the facility fire protection system.
• Maintain EHS databases and related records.
• Support hazardous waste management activities, including pickups, disposal, and shipment preparation.
• Conduct EHS training, including Lockout/Tagout and environmental training.
• Monitor contractor compliance with applicable EHS laws, regulations, and standards.
• Prepare and submit required environmental reports accurately and on time.
• Support environmental compliance projects and initiatives.
• Assist with facility recycling programs and continuous improvement efforts.
• Support compliance with environmental permits and related requirements.
• Conduct ergonomic evaluations and assessments.
• Partner with department managers and supervisors to reduce accidents, injuries, and property damage.
• Support Division EHS initiatives and maintain an active facility EHS program.
• Promote a safe and healthy work environment for employees, contractors, visitors, and other personnel entering the facility.

Job Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in an EHS-related role or equivalent relevant experience.
• Knowledge of applicable environmental, health, and safety regulatory standards.
• Familiarity with OSHA, MIOSHA, DOT, EPA, and applicable state environmental regulations.
• Strong computer skills, including the ability to maintain databases and records.
• Ability to use spreadsheets and perform basic algebra preferred.
• Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to conduct facility inspections, audits, and ergonomic assessments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to identify workplace hazards and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Fire department or rescue squad experience preferred for safety-focused responsibilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience

• 2–3 years of EHS experience or equivalent relevant experience.
• Alternatively, 2–3 years of relevant experience within a manufacturing environment may be considered.
• Fire department or rescue squad experience preferred.
