Maintenance Mechanic

Odessa Chemical Plant seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic on a temp to hire basis. Job Description:

• Working under general direction to perform a wide range of mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks
• Knowing and complying with all safety policies and procedures
• Supporting and promoting the site's continuous improvement
• Using hand and power tools to accomplish tasks
• Changing lubrication fluids and filters in production equipment
• Replacing lighting and ballasts as needed
• Completing preventative maintenance on equipment at regular intervals
• Participating in on-call rotation for the department
• Developing good working relationships with other departments on the site through professional communication
• Maintaining a clean and well-organized work area
• Working in a variety of environments at a chemical plant, mostly outdoors and in all weather conditions
• Other maintenance related duties as assigned

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday/ 7:00 am to 4:00 pm with a rotating on-call person each week for off-hours support Salary: $24.50/hour Requirements/ Certifications :

• High school diploma/GED
• 1 year experience in general maintenance work, preferably in industrial or automotive settings
• Basic analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Strong mechanical knowledge, especially around fixed and rotating equipment (pumps, piping, storage tanks, etc)
• Basic electrical knowledge
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical instrumentation and devices
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (Emaint, SAP, etc)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to organize daily activities of self and others
