Job Title: Electronics Technician Job Description
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Electronics Technician to support the assembly, testing, and repair of electronic and avionics components in a climate‑controlled repair station environment. You will work hands‑on with electronic assemblies and circuit boards, perform diagnostics down to the component level, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical issues. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in electronics fundamentals, strong troubleshooting skills, and a passion for precision work on fine‑pitch assemblies.
Responsibilities- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot electronic circuits and components, including diodes, transistors, resistors, capacitors, LEDs, logic circuits, and circuit boards.
- Perform component‑level diagnostics using multimeters, power supplies, and other bench test equipment to identify faults and verify proper operation.
- Interpret and work from schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and component datasheets to support assembly, installation, and repair activities.
- Identify faulty electronic and avionics components and replace them with appropriate parts in accordance with repair station procedures.
- Perform soldering and rework on through‑hole and surface‑mount components, including fine‑pitch assemblies and PCB repairs.
- Conduct electronics testing on circuit boards and assemblies, documenting test results, repairs performed, and configuration changes accurately.
- Support avionics installation and repair tasks, including component assembly and electrical installation work within an aviation maintenance and MRO environment.
- Use measurement tools to verify current, voltage, and resistance values, and apply understanding of short‑circuit behavior and transistor switching thresholds in troubleshooting.
- Apply knowledge of electronic fundamentals, including logic gates, diode operation, LED characteristics, transistor types, resistor networks, Zener diode applications, capacitors, and temperature‑sensitive components, to analyze circuit behavior.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the repair station, following established procedures and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to resolve technical issues, improve repair processes, and ensure reliable operation of aircraft components and avionics systems.
- Participate in and successfully complete technical knowledge assessments covering fundamental electronics concepts and practical troubleshooting skills.
- Strong understanding of basic electronic components and circuit behavior, including diodes, LEDs, transistors, resistors, capacitors, logic gates, and resistor networks.
- Ability to assemble, test, and troubleshoot electronic circuits and circuit boards down to the component level.
- Proficiency in using multimeters and other bench equipment to measure current, voltage, and resistance and to perform diagnostics.
- Capability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and component datasheets accurately.
- Hands‑on proficiency in soldering and de‑soldering through‑hole and surface‑mount components, including fine‑pitch assemblies.
- Ability to identify electronic components by symbol and physical appearance and to distinguish transistor types (NPN, PNP, FET) and their terminals.
- Understanding of diode operation, including forward and reverse bias, and knowledge of Zener diode applications for voltage regulation.
- Familiarity with LED characteristics, including typical forward voltage (such as approximately 1.7V for red LEDs).
- Knowledge of capacitor functions, including AC coupling and DC blocking, and awareness of temperature‑sensitive components such as thermistors.
- Understanding of short‑circuit behavior and basic circuit operation, including transistor switching thresholds around 0.7V for silicon BJTs.
- Comfort working with small components and detailed electronic assemblies in a repair and maintenance setting.
- Ability to document test results, repairs, and configuration changes clearly and accurately.
- Experience with avionics systems, avionics electrical work, and avionics installation in an aviation maintenance or general aviation environment.
- Background in aircraft repair, aircraft components, and navigation systems within a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) or part 145 repair station setting.
- Familiarity with aircraft wiring harnesses, component assembly, and electronics testing procedures used in aviation.
- Experience working in climate‑controlled indoor repair facilities and following structured repair station processes.
- Ability to interpret component color codes and apply them in identifying and selecting the correct parts.
- Strong mechanical aptitude to support installation, repair, and assembly of electronic and avionic hardware.
- Comfort collaborating with engineering, quality assurance, and other technical teams to resolve complex issues.
You will join a professional, climate‑controlled repair environment focused on quality, safety, and continuous improvement, where your technical expertise in electronics and avionics is valued. The role offers the opportunity to deepen your hands‑on skills with advanced bench equipment and fine‑pitch assemblies while working closely with experienced engineering and QA teams. You will contribute directly to the reliability of critical aircraft systems, gain exposure to a broad range of avionics technologies, and develop your career within a structured, detail‑oriented technical setting.
Work EnvironmentThe role is based in an all‑indoor, climate‑controlled part 145 repair station dedicated to aircraft components and avionics systems. You will work at electronics workbenches equipped with multimeters, power supplies, soldering and de‑soldering tools, and other test and measurement equipment. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, with structured processes typical of aviation maintenance and MRO operations. Work involves handling small electronic components, fine‑pitch assemblies, and circuit boards in a focused, technical setting.
