RN Hematology Oncology Infusion

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Outpatient Infusion setting provides specialized clinical care, coordination, and patient education to Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy patients. The role involves administering chemotherapy, blood products, donor leukocytes, and CAR-T product infusions while working collaboratively within a fast-paced team. Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills are essential for success. A minimum of 2 years of acute care experience with hematology/oncology specialization is required. Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical care and patient education for Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy patients.
• Administer chemotherapy, blood products, donor leukocytes, and CAR-T product infusions safely and accurately.
• Coordinate patient care activities and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
• Monitor patient responses and manage infusion-related reactions.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory standards.
• Utilize critical thinking to prioritize tasks and manage multiple patients simultaneously.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of 2 years recent acute care experience.
• Hematology/Oncology experience (minimum 2 years).
• Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC) required.
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
• Telemetry experience.
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy patient populations.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system, especially within oncology specialties.
• Flexibility in working various shifts and adapting to changing clinical demands.

Special Considerations:

• Work includes weekend and holiday rotations according to unit policy.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts including 4 ten-hour days or 3 nine-hour days.
• Ability to obtain TB skin test as required.
• Compliance with on-call and rotating shift requirements, including potential inpatient unit rotations.

Scheduling:

• Full-time position, 36 or 40 hours per week.
• Primarily weekday shifts with weekend and holiday rotation.
• Shift patterns typically include either four 10-hour shifts or three 9-hour shifts.
