Multi-Skilled Journalist

Position KPIX-TV is seeking an experienced Multi‑Skilled Journalist (MSJ) based in San Jose, CA. The role involves community storytelling, writing, shooting, and editing news content for on‑air and digital/social platforms. Responsibilities Develop story ideas and write, shoot, and edit news content for daily newscasts. Pitch vetted stories reflecting the community. Establish and maintain relationships with community sources. Produce content for Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites. Work under pressure and meet deadlines. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Valid driver’s license. SAG‑AFTRA union membership required. Strength in creative storytelling and energetic delivery. Strong social media presence. Experience in broadcast ENG camera, lighting, and audio. College degree in Journalism/Communications/Broadcasting preferred. Minimum of 4 years MSJ/television reporting experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications Ability to shoot and edit broadcast‑quality video for television newscast and digital platforms. Independent work with accuracy and problem‑solving skills. Social media skills and contribution to all platforms. Flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends. Team player able to meet deadlines and multi‑task. Compensation & Benefits Hiring salary range: $125,000 – $140,000. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability benefits, tuition assistance, and PTO.
