The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.
The Division of Child and Family Well-Being is a division at the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) that focuses on supporting whole child and family health and well-being for North Carolinians with several sections including nutrition programs (WIC, SNAP and Child and Adult Care Food Program), health & prevention services for children and youth, children's behavioral health programs, and early intervention programs. This position is housed within the Operations Unit in the Community Nutrition Services Section (CNSS) in the Division of Child and Family Well-Being (DCFW). The Community Nutrition Services Section promotes sound nutrition habits among women in their childbearing years, infants, children and youth. Section staff work with representatives of state, county and private providers/agencies to promote healthful dietary and physical activity behaviors and best practices.The CNSS administers the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), the WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), the Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program (BFPC), and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The CNSS collaborates with programs within the Division of Child and Family Well-Being (e.g., Food and Nutrition Services) and other Divisions within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) as well other public and private community agencies to coordinate nutrition policy, education and training efforts.
This position is responsible for coordinating policy and dissemination of information on state and federal policy and laws that govern WIC and the CACFP. The Program Coordinator II coordinates standard operating procedures and policies related to WIC and the CACFP. The position coordinates personnel management activities for the Section and travel authorizations. This position stays abreast of changes in Federal and State laws and regulations. In addition, the Program Coordinator II will coordinate management evaluations, audits, and special projects. The position is responsible for independently organizing, establishing, communicating, implementing, and tracking of project deadlines. This position will ensure that timelines are met for large-scale projects in the Section. This position will gather, analyze, edit, and report information. The position must make recommendations for program improvement and bring to management's attention areas of concern in a timely manner. Also serves as administrative support for Section Management which includes but is not limited to meeting coordination, scheduling, drafting correspondence and travel.
Salary Range: $49,466-$75,718

Position is funded in part through federal funds.
Position is eligible for a hybrid-teleworking schedule to include weekly onsite work hours
