Self-Storage Relief Store Manager Scope of Position The Relief Manager is responsible for a variety of tasks that support the Store Management Teams by promoting unit rentals, warranties, and moving supplies to exceed sales targets, all while ensuring high customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include guiding new customers through the rental process, confirming moving dates with potential clients, and managing past‑due tenants. Daily tasks involve conducting property inspections, performing light maintenance, and managing paperwork for lien and auction processes. Effective communication with the Area Manager and Leadership Team is essential. This role requires flexibility to work across multiple locations, manage inventory, and ensure operational efficiency while balancing work and personal life. It combines customer service, inventory management, and property maintenance in a dynamic and supportive environment. Self-Storage Relief Store Manager Skills And Experience Minimum two years of experience in storage, retail, or hospitality. Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication. Proven leadership skills. Skilled in communication and team motivation, with a strong ability to listen and build meaningful relationships, enhancing trust and team spirit. Customer service mindset. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Identifies potential maintenance, safety, and fire issues. Operates roll‑up doors for storage units. Skilled in resolving conflicts and quickly addressing and resolving issues. Must have reliable transportation. Self-Storage Relief Store Manager Responsibilities Exceeds sales goals by promoting unit rentals, warranties, and moving supplies while securing positive reviews. Guides and assists new customers throughout the rental process to ensure smooth transactions. Provide exceptional customer service to existing clients, going above and beyond to meet their needs. Personally, reaches out to potential clients to confirm their moving dates and secure their storage units. Proactively manages past‑due tenants and efficiently handle the necessary paperwork for lien and auction processes. Conducts daily property inspections to ensure security, cleanliness, and proper upkeep, including checking locks, cleaning units, restocking supplies, and performing light maintenance tasks. Communicates results, updates, and recommendations clearly and effectively to the Area Manager and the Leadership Team. Be willing to travel occasionally to nearby locations for scheduled shifts and show flexibility for weekend and holiday work. Be available for on-call emergency backup to address night and weekend security concerns and provide coverage across the district as needed. Self-Storage Relief Store Manager Physical Requirements Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously. Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as rolling carts, ladders, cleaning materials, roll up doors, and reach overhead. Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer. Ability to access and produce information from a computer. Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds. Self-Storage Relief Store Manager Work Habits Must adhere to all SecureSpace Management policies and procedures. Must maintain the integrity of confidential communications and customer information. Must maintain a professional, courteous, and cooperative manner with GSA Management & SecureSpace Management staff, as well as field personnel and outside contacts, and demonstrate respect and a positive attitude. Must demonstrate dependability by arriving and leaving work on time, taking the allotted time for lunch and breaks, and limiting personal telephone calls and socializing to break periods.
