Commercial Glazing Estimator Job DescriptionPosition OverviewThe Commercial Glazing Estimator is responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial glazing projects. This role supports the preconstruction phase by analyzing project documents, performing detailed takeoffs, and preparing bids that align with company goals and industry standards.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Analysis - Review and interpret architectural drawings, structural plans, specifications, shop drawings, and installation requirements.Estimating and Takeoffs - Prepare detailed material and labor takeoffs for windows, doors, storefronts, curtain walls, railings, partitions, and other glazing systems.Bid Preparation - Develop complete and competitive bid proposals that meet project specifications.Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination - Obtain and evaluate quotes for materials, fabrication, and subcontracted services.Risk Identification - Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and potential risks; recommend mitigation strategies.Communication - Coordinate with project managers, architects, general contractors, and internal teams to clarify scope and resolve questions.Market and Cost Research - Monitor industry trends, pricing changes, and new glazing technologies.QualificationsMinimum 2 years of estimating experience, preferably in commercial glass and glazingStrong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsProficiency with Microsoft Office and digital takeoff toolsExperience with AutoCAD, GDS, Buildertrend, or GlassManager preferredStrong math, budgeting, analytical, and organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesAbility to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlinesProfessional and detail oriented approach to client and vendor relationships
