Key Responsibilities

1.

Conducts comprehensive evaluations of infants, children, and adolescents to assess developmental, motor, sensory, cognitive, and self-care skills.

2.

Develops and implements individualized treatment plans to support functional participation in daily activities such as feeding, play, mobility, and self-care.

3.

Provides direct therapeutic intervention to address established goals, provide consultative input and/or to complete patient and caregiver education. Regularly reviews patient plans of care and adjusts based on patient response and/or medical status.

4.

Collaborates with a multidisciplinary care team, including the identified caregivers, through formal and informal methods (i.e.-team meetings, care conferences, ad-hoc conversations) to establish goals, coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.

5.

Educates and trains care team members and caregivers on intervention strategies, positioning, handling, and home programs to support therapeutic outcomes.

6.

Documents evaluation, intervention and patient related communications in the electronic medical record.

7.

Adheres to established organizational policies and practices related to direct patient care provision and completes all required education and training within assigned timeframes to support high-quality care delivery.

 

Patient Population Served:

Responsible for delivering services to patients with complex medical needs, including infants and children.

Education and Experience Required:

The Occupational Therapist must be licensed with the State of Missouri, hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card from the American Heart Association.

 

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

The ideal candidate has experience in a clinical pediatric setting, enjoys collaborating daily with a multidisciplinary team and exhibits a genuine passion for working with medically complex children and their caregivers. Candidates should have strong communication skills and self-directed planning and organization skills related to individualized treatment planning and compliance related tasks.
