Medical Laboratory Technician I

Job Responsibilities Supports high quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory. Prepares specimens for testing. Performs routine laboratory tests. Performs quality control and maintenance procedures. Recognizes computer data problems. Troubleshoots laboratory instruments. Communicates technical information to medical and lay persons. Assists with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures. Participates in continuing education. Recognizes normal and abnormal values. Models Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities. Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards. Qualifications Education: Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. Experience: None. Certification: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) or equivalent.
