Part Time Chemistry Instructor

Clearlake, California, United States Basic Function Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Chemistry courses up to 10 hours per week. Organize and teach all levels of Chemistry classes. Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning. Teach day, evening, and/or weekend assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses. Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester. Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees (if desired). Required Duties Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Qualifications Master’s in chemistry or Bachelor’s in chemistry or biochemistry and Master’s in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology, or geochemistry or the equivalent (must apply through YCCD’s Equivalency Application Process). Desired/Preferred Qualifications Relevant life or teaching experience that demonstrates a clear ability to teach Chemistry to community college students. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: Steps 1 ($1,377.25) – Step 10 ($2,306.66) per unit. Part‑time positions (less than 0.60 FTE) are not entitled to district-paid fringe benefits.
