Patient Care Tech, Intermediate Care Unit, Full Time, Nights

Patient Care Technician (Medicine Unit) Shift: Night (7:00 pm – 7:00 am), rotating weekends, 36 hours per week. Responsibilities The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports both independent and dependent activities of daily living, measures vital signs, assists with mobility and ambulation, performs phlebotomy, point‑of‑care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the RN. Observes patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions; documents timely and accurately; reports any changes to the nurse or medical staff. Qualifications Education HS Diploma or Equivalent (Required) and one of the following required: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services (EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic), Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT, or Current work experience within the last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
