Environmental Scientist

This position will assist our project managers with Contamination Assessment (soil/groundwater sampling and oversight work), Emergency Response, Remediation, and Environmental Support Services activities. Founded in 1968, we have over 50 years of experience and have no intentions of slowing down! What will be my responsibilities and objectives? Reporting and taking work direction from Project Managers, will perform sampling and/or monitoring at our client sites and ports, which can include the following: Groundwater and soil sampling, well installations, air sampling, soil borings, potable well surveys, aquifer testing, and pilot testing. Assigned to client sites in the Greater Tampa Bay Region and at times other FL regions. Interface daily with internal and external staff and clients. Assist with/prepare Health & Safety Plans, and data tables and report figures for report deliverables. Daily usage working with pumps, mechanical equipment, and tools. As needed, will support 24-hour Emergency Response activities for contracted FDOT State-owned roads. Maintain and keep abreast of FDOT/FDEP regulations, SOP’s, guidelines, and safety to ensure all Handex activities are in compliance. Assist with necessary permitting associated with FDOT MOT and NPDES Discharging. Professionally represents Handex at all times and maintains an open line of communication with clients and internal staff. Benefits of joining Handex: Competitive compensation. To learn more about Handex, please refer to: Requirements Skills Needed For Success: Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology or Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 0-2 years of environmental experience working on groundwater and soil sampling, pumps and well installations, drilling, field assessments, emergency response, systems operations, and overall maintenance. Applicable internships a plus. Must be comfortable being outside in various weather conditions and working on environmental activities (soil/water/vapor). OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and a TWIC Card a plus. Knowledge of Florida state, county, local regulations, rules, SOP’s, guidelines, DEP, DOT etc. Proficient technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, etc.). Highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and a team player with a can do attitude. Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills, dealing with both with Handex colleagues as well as customers and regulators is a must. #J-18808-Ljbffr Handex Consulting & Remediation
