Principal R&D Engineer

Salary: $180,000 - 250,000 per year Requirements:

• We require an M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related communications or engineering technology discipline such as wireless communications, signal processing, networking, or RF design.
• We require at least 10 years of experience designing and developing wireless systems.
• We require 5 years of proven technical project leadership experience, such as principal investigator or technical program management.
• We require experience across the full technology development lifecycle, from design through field testing.
• Employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check and drug test.
• For U.S.-based roles, candidates must be a U.S. person, meaning a citizen or permanent resident.
• We are looking for candidates with technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: C/C++, MATLAB, Python, RF propagation, channel modeling, digital communications, ad hoc mesh networking, routing, signal processing, MIMO, OFDM, beam nulling, cognitive radio, interference mitigation, RF sensing, signal detection, and classification.
• Strong technical writing, proposal development, and presentation skills are highly valued.

• We lead the technical management of research and development programs and projects.
• We own overall system architecture and requirements definition.
• We build and monitor development schedules and task plans.
• We take part in hands-on design, simulation, prototyping, and verification work.
• We oversee simulation, software, FPGA, and test activities.
• We prepare technical materials and engage with customers when needed.
• We report progress to leadership to support strategic planning and decision-making.
• We contribute to business development and capture efforts, including whitepapers and proposals.
• We assess current technologies and present ideas for future enhancements and strategies.
• We communicate and collaborate with government and industry stakeholders.
• We work closely with our senior R&D team on major team-wide initiatives.
• We help define the team technology portfolio and pipeline.
• We supervise engineers to support project and functional needs.
• We assist with drafting job descriptions and screening and interviewing engineering candidates.
• We travel occasionally for customer meetings, demonstrations, tests, and team sessions.
