Hybrid Remote • Houston, TXDescriptionThe Electrical Power Engineer will play a key role on Fervo's Power Delivery Team, supporting the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical power systems across geothermal development projects. This role will contribute to a wide variety of power delivery initiatives, including transmission systems, distribution networks, substations, interconnections, and renewable energy integration. Working closely with internal engineering teams, consultants, vendors, and construction partners, the Electrical Power Engineer will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards.This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to the development of innovative energy infrastructure. The Electrical Power Engineer will report to the Lead Electrical Power Engineer.RequirementsResponsibilitiesPower System Analysis & EngineeringPerform engineering, technical, and financial analyses for a variety of electrical power projectsConduct power system planning and operational studies, including reliability assessments and economic dispatch evaluationsPerform load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, transient stability, and switching transient studies using power system modeling softwareApply fundamental electrical engineering principles to support project planning, design, and executionDevelop life-cycle cost analyses by preparing engineering performance estimates and project cost assumptionsProject Design & Technical ExecutionSupport the electrical design and execution of transmission, distribution, substation, and renewable energy integration projectsProvide technical input during project scoping and identify Front-End Engineering & Design (FEED) and implementation deliverables required for the electrical scope of the projectReview and approve electrical equipment specification sheets prior to procurement and support the purchasing of equipment and materialsSupport the development and maintenance of company electrical equipment specifications, engineering standards, and installation standardsEnsure assigned projects comply with company standards and applicable industry codes and regulations, including NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, API, and NEMACross-Functional Collaboration & Project SupportInterface with engineering consultants, plant personnel, E&I vendors, construction contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout all phases of project executionProvide electrical engineering support on multidisciplinary capital projectsCommunicate site preferences, approved manufacturers, and technical requirements to engineering contractors during project developmentTake ownership of assigned electrical work packages and monitor engineering contractor progress to maintain project schedulesProvide timely technical feedback on engineering deliverables, estimates, and project milestonesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited programBasic knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power systems, and engineering design practicesWorking knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)Familiarity with electrical analysis software such as ETAP or SKMStrong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with demonstrated critical thinking abilityExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteStrong attention to detail, organization, collaboration, and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsInternship, consulting, utility, or industry experience related to electrical power systemsExperience designing transmission, distribution, or substation systemsExperience with renewable energy integration, power generation, or coal-fired power plant retirement studiesProject management experienceKnowledge of applicable electrical industry standards, codes, and regulationsLocationFervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX, with growing offices in Oakland, CA, Golden, CO, Reno, NV, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, with regular in-office presence required at a Fervo office location.
