Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Four 10-hour shifts plus call Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: - Must be able to handle total joints, robotics, general laparoscopic cases, urology, hand and foot, and breast reconstructions. Description: Registered Nurses will be required to pass an open book exam during orientation. The exam consists of skills learned and requires a minimum passing score of 90%. Failure to achieve this score may lead to termination. The facility operates 6 operating suites. On average, the team performs over 400 cases each month. Common procedures include adult and pediatric cases with a focus on outpatient procedures. Specialties encompass orthopedic procedures, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, robotic surgery, plastic surgery, ENT, urology, hand and foot surgery, and breast reconstruction. The charge nurse does not take an assignment on shifts. Operating room techs are available to assist. The facility uses an electronic medical record system. Scheduling is managed by OR supervisors without self-scheduling options. Call requirements are 6-7 call shifts per month and 2-3 weekends during the contract period. Staff must be open to taking at least 1 holiday call per year, depending on operational needs. Floating will occur within the operating room. Scrub color and dress code will be provided by the facility. Orientation to the unit will consist of 1-3 days. The work culture is described as positive and supportive, with a strong emphasis on staff engagement and teamwork. Successful staff traits include hard work, efficiency, attention to detail, great interpersonal skills, and a willingness to be a team player. Openness to taking call, especially on short notice, and flexibility to adjust shifts for changing volumes is essential. Additional time off requests should be limited and made upfront. The facility reserves the right to cancel shifts if necessary. Charting will be completed using the electronic medical record system. A bachelor's degree in nursing is required for submission. The care setting is acute. This position is classified under the nursing division.
