The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is the agency charged with licensing and regulating State of Florida businesses and professionals, such as cosmetologists, veterinarians, condominiums, hotels, and restaurants. Our mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly, and we strive to meet this goal in our day-to-day operations.
The work you will do:
This position is located within the Bureau of Public Engagement of the Division of Condominiums, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes. It is an in-office position in the criminal referral unit. The position is responsible for reviewing cases related to alleged criminal activity related to condominium operations.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Conducts reviews of incoming case files related to alleged criminal activity related to the operations of a condominium. Identifies documentary evidence pertinent to the suspected criminal activity. Prepares investigative reports and referrals. Gathers information necessary to investigate allegations. Utilizes public and private data systems as part of the investigative process—interview parties of the investigation and other contacts as needed. Obtains written and/or verbal statements as required. Documents investigative efforts in an automated information system. Prepares affidavits with supporting documentary evidence and witness testimony.
- Works closely with the Attorney Supervisor to determine cases that may be referred to the States Attorney and other local law enforcement agencies for criminal prosecution.
- Provides written and telephonic responses to complaints and inquiries from the public concerning issues regulated by the Division’s program areas. Communicates with the public in a timely manner and is knowledgeable in applying the statutes and administrative rules enforced by the division to varying factual scenarios.
- Generates appropriate documentation and maintains appropriate files in response to complaints and inquiries from the public.
- Prepares cases for administrative action, trial, and related hearings or proceedings. Testifies in proceedings as needed.
- Develops and maintains a network of contacts among members and representatives of regulated industries.
- Conducts case and non-related case travel.
- Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Requirements:
- Two years of investigative work and preparing affidavits.
- Valid Driver’s License
