Automotive MechanicColony Tire is currently seeking a full-time Automotive Mechanic to join our team! Our mechanics work for competitive, unlimited pay. Mechanic must be able to diagnose and repair simple and complex automotive issues, and perform routine maintenance on passenger vehicles, as well as heavy equipment. Must hold a valid driver's license.Employee will be required to perform tire and auto-related service as well as other duties as assigned by the manager.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential Tasks and Responsibilities; include, but not limited to:Follow established procedures to inspect tires, wheels and vehicles before and after serviceDocument work performed accurately and according to company policyRaise vehicles using hydraulic jacks and/or automotive liftsUnbolt and re-bolt wheels from/to vehicles, using torque wrenches, lug wrenches and other hand and power tools. Mount and dismount tires onto wheelsIdentify and inflate tires in accordance with manufacturer's specificationsPlace wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels. Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheelsReplace valve stemsRepair tires in accordance with industry accepted guidelinesRotate tires on vehicles in accordance with manufacturer's recommendationsPerform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as but not limited to oil changes and lubricationsPull vehicles in and out of shop safelyEvaluate vehicles and/or their components and systems by accepted diagnostic methods which may include any or all of the following; test driving vehicles; using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, computerized diagnostic devices, and their experienceRepair, reline, replace and adjust brakesFollow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brakes, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areasConfer with customers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems, and to discuss work to be performed and future repair requirementsTroubleshoot, diagnose problems with, and make repairs to minor electrical systems.Examine vehicles, compile estimates of repair costs, and secure customers' approval to perform repairsRepair or replace defective ball joint suspensions, wheel bearings or other suspension componentsComplete State Inspections according to the outlined proceduresRepair and service air conditioning, heating, and engine-cooling systemsRepair, replace, or adjust defective fuel injectors, carburetor parts, gasoline filtersRepair, service, or replace transmission and/or parts and drive train componentsRemove and replace defective mufflers and tailpipesDisassemble, repair, and rebuild faulty assemblies such as steering systems, and linkages.Complete front-end alignments and suspension system serviceKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceOperation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or systemsOperation Monitoring - watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properlyExtent Flexibility - the ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legsStatic Strength - the ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objectsKnowledge of commonly used tools - Ability to recognize and use a variety of tools, including but not limited to power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, machine tools, such as lathes and grinning machines, jack sand hoists, and common hand toolsOperating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, and/or Equipment - Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, or passenger vehiclesPerforming General Physical Activities - Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materialsInspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material - Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defectsMaking Decisions and Solving Problems - Analyzing information and evaluation results to choose the best solution and solve problemsComplex Problem Solving – Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutionsHearing sensitivity – The ability to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudnessWork Styles:Attention to Detail - Job requires close attention to detail and thorough in completing assigned tasksDependability - Job requires being reliable and responsible, as well as fulfilling obligationsCooperation - Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitudeIndependence - Job requires guiding oneself with little or no supervision and depending on oneself to get things doneIntegrity - Job requires treating people with respect, keeping commitments, working ethically and upholding organizational values.Stress Tolerance - Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situationsWork Environment:While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The environment may or may not be air conditioned/heated seasonally. Employees frequently work with dirty and greasy parts and in awkward positions. The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
