The City of Beverly Hills is offering $45,000 Signing Bonus for Qualified Lateral Police Officers The City of Beverly Hills Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Lateral Police Officer. Lateral Police Officers protect life and property within the city, maintain law and order, respond to emergency calls, patrol to enforce criminal and traffic laws of the city, state, and nation, perform background investigations, and assist with training duties. Qualifications Applicants must meet one of the following tracks for experience and training: Track 1 : Graduation from an accredited California POST academy, currently employed as a sworn police officer in California, and receipt of the POST Basic certificate on or before the completion of the first year of employment. Track 2 : Employed as a sworn police officer within the last three years, eligible for re‑hire, and possession of the POST Basic certificate. Training requirements: Track 1 : At least 36 semester units (or 54 quarter units) from an accredited college or university; must provide official or unofficial transcripts. Track 2 : Minimum of four years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Services after an Honorable Discharge, with Form DD214 provided. License and Certificates: Valid California driver’s license with satisfactory driving record. Penal Code 832 Arrest and Firearms Training certificate. Ability to obtain Basic POST certificate upon completion of probation. Other criteria mandated by the California POST Commission. Other Requirements: Citizen of the United States or lawful permanent resident. 21 years of age at appointment. Meeting physical, psychological, and background standards. Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency response. Salary and Benefits This position is represented by the Police Officers’ Association and covered by the negotiated terms of the Memorandum of Understanding. It receives a 6% increase effective 07/01/2026. Failure to provide documentation will terminate the selection process. Assessment of Supplemental Questionnaire – Respond fully; vague answers such as “see resume” will disqualify. Performance Exam – Successful written exam candidates participate in a Physical Agility Test (PAT) at Rio Hondo Community College. Oral Interview – Candidates who pass the PAT are invited to an oral interview. Interview dates are continuous and candidates will be notified upon passing the PAT.
